Our Culture

At Little Penguins Early Learning, we are committed to holistic education that recognises the connection between mind, body and spirit. We see early childhood learning as a social, collaborative experience and highly value community participation. We also value the children’s connection to the natural world and have designed our childcare centres to encourage indoor-outdoor flow throughout the day.

Our Values

At Little Penguins we offer holistic mind-body-spirit education, which is grounded in the Early Years Learning Framework, with an emphasis on fun, creativity, health and wellbeing. Our values help to support and shape our culture.

  • We offer holistic education that promotes creativity, community and connection to the natural environment.
  • We are committed to knowing each child and their family and incorporating this knowledge into our educational program.
  • Our educational team creates indoor-outdoor learning spaces designed to engage and challenge each child individually.
  • Each child is supported to develop language and pre-literacy skills, social and emotional awareness, and a love for learning.
  • We provide healthy meals and snacks to boost immunity and improve brain function – and develop healthy eating habits.
  • Above all, children in our care must feel safe and supported as they begin to explore the world around them.

Our Approach

The Little Penguins educational program is built around play-based learning. Through storytelling, songs, games and experiments, play-based learning encourages curiosity and builds confidence. Our educational team also creates rich and inclusive learning spaces and experiences full of magic, warmth and wonder for the children to explore in their own time. We welcome and encourage ideas and inspiration from family members along the way.

The Learning Journey

At Little Penguins we are passionate about the learning journey children and educators go on everyday. Our centre has been designed and built around providing indoor-outdoor flow so that children can seamlessly explore and follow their own inspirations and interests throughout the day.

Otherwise known as the ‘third teacher’, this unique environment offers a safe, challenging and endlessly fascinating space where your child will discover their love of learning. To encourage and support a sense of belonging we have created three ‘pods’ (Infant, Toddler and Preschool) to contain our nine studios. Strong, supportive relationships can be built as these pods develop.

Early Years Learning Framework

The Early Years Learning Framework underpins everything we do at Little Penguins Early Learning. Here’s an extract providing an overview of the what the Early Years Learning Framework is all about.

Child’s learning – The diversity in family life means that children experience belonging, being and becoming in many different ways. They bring their diverse experiences, perspectives, expectations, knowledge and skills to their learning. Children’s learning is dynamic, complex and holistic. Physical, social, emotional, personal, spiritual, creative, cognitive and linguistic aspects of learning are all intricately interwoven and interrelated.
